Once it's cured, it's permanent until the polish is removed. What affects longevity is the same as any gel service: nail prep, your home care routine, and how hard you are on your hands.
I always recommend cat eye over a structured base (builder gel or Gel X) for clients who want maximum durability. The added strength underneath means the polish is less likely to chip or lift, and the overall finish looks more refined.
